Head to Head Tennis betting on the Australian Open Women’s final has Maria Sharapova a $1.39 favourite with IASbet against Serena Williams $2.95.
The Russian glamour girl has been the favourite in betting to claim her first Australian Open Womens title since the tournament got underway at Flinders Park.
While Sharapova came into the event as one of the leading chances, Williams came in ranked 81st in the world with little expectation of success.
The Russian world No.2 and reigning US Open champion has an undefeated record from her two appearances in Grand Slam finals at Flushing Meadows and Wimbledon where she defeated Williams in the 2004 final.
Sharapova will regain the world No.1 spot on the WTA Tour Singles Rankings on Monday.
Williams, a two-time former winner at Melbourne Park is playing in her 10th Grand Slam final. She boasts a 7-2 record all-time. The pair has met four times previously with both players winning twice.
Williams won their last encounter, ironically it was at the Australian Open two years ago when Sharapova served for the match in both the second and third sets before falling 2-6, 7-5, 8-6.
