Schumacher wins German Grand Prix

Seven time world formula one champion Michael Schumacher won the German Grand Prix overnight to cut championship leader Fernando Alonso’s lead from 17 points to 11.

Schumacher took control at the Hockenheim circuit after polesitter Kimi Raikkonen had to make an early pit stop.

Schumacher led home a Ferrari one-two finish beating home teammate Felipe Massa while the flying Finn Raikkonen finished third.

Alonso struggled for the third consecutive Grand Prix and could only finish fifth.
