Yankees win streak continues

20 July, 2006

The New Yo9rk Yankees continued on their winning way when they beat the Seattle Mariners 5-4 after 11 innings on Tuesday night.

The win saw the Yankees make it five straight in the race for the American League East title and nine from their last ten outings.

They did need some help from the men in stripes with a disputed call in the ninth allowing the game tying run to be scored to send the game into extra innings.

Melky Cabrera hit a homer at the top of the 11th inning to keep the Yankees one game behind the Boston Red Sox.

The Yankees play Seattle again on Wednesday before heading to Toronto for a four game series starting Thursday against the Blue Jays.
