The Melbourne Cup is staged at the Flemington Racecourse, situated next to the Maribyrnong River, in Melbourne’s inner north.
The circumference of the track is 2312 metres with a final straight of 450 metres - when events are ran over 1200 metres.

How to get there
Now that you’ve purchased your tickets, you and a crowd in excess of 100,000 people will be attending this event. It’s important to plan ahead and identify your preferred means of transportation to the event. See below the many transport options available to attend the Melbourne Cup.
Types of transport:
By Train – Frequent trains run to and from the Flemington Racecourse departing from Melbourne’s Southern Cross station, Flinders Street station and North Melbourne train station. By Tram – Jump on board Tram No: 57 corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street. The tram will drop you off on Epsom Road - out the front of the Flemington Racecourse.
By Taxi – To ensure you arrive on time, it is highly recommended to book a TAXI on Melbourne Cup Day. You can also try your luck outside the Southern Cross train station’s TAXI rank on Spencer Street or at Flinder's Street train station (opposite Federation Square) on St. Kilda Rd.
